Winter Field and Sky

Winter Field and Sky

Winter Field and Sky is “hot off the memory card” - I photographed it this afternoon. It was sunny this morning, but by the time I loaded the gear into my truck the sky had turned cloudy grey, rendering the landscape flat and colourless. Rather than turning back, I decided to continue on my drive. I’ve learned that when the expected doesn’t work out, I look in new places for inspiration. I kept looking up at the sky as I drove, hoping for a break in the clouds that would allow some interesting light through. After a while I began noticing the shapes, patterns, textures, and subtle variations in colour that the cloud cover had to offer. So, instead of ruining today’s photo drive, the prairie clouds became the subject. This is my favourite of the handful of photographs I took this afternoon.
