Back-Roading After Supper

Back Roading After Supper

Back Roading After Supper - Kerry Enns Photography

I was exploring the reflections the low-hanging sun created on this dirt road when I was interrupted. A couple of young fellows came by driving a classic 70s Dodge Power Wagon. As a fellow classic truck enthusiast, I could appreciate the moment they were enjoying - taking their classic Power Wagon out for a drive after supper. I’ve gone for many similar drives with my classic GMC, so I felt like I could read their minds.

This photograph features light and texture in abundance. The low angle of the evening sun creates sharp shadows, outlining the edges of plants, grasses, and leaves in the photograph. The plant life seems to glow at this time of day. As I mentioned above, the reflections on the dirt road leading into the distance is what first caught my eye. I feel that the serendipitous arrival of the Power Wagon completed the composition. The truck is placed at the convergence of the road reflections and the backlit dust cloud behind it. The drivers are silhouetted perfectly, helping to tell the story of the after-supper drive. The large tree on the left side of the photograph balances the action on the right. Hope the boys had a good drive - I’d like to take a closer look at that Power Wagon some time.
